SxSWi: Real-Time Listening Failure
March 22nd, 2010 at 1:49 pmIt’s funny because for years after the panels are finished they hand out those comment/ rating cards.
I wonder if the SxSWi organizers read and take them into account.
SxSWi: Real-Time Listening Failure
March 22nd, 2010 at 9:03 amYep, no doubt about it. Evan had to know it was going down in flames.
It was a disappointing interview because Evan would say something brilliant, paradigm changing and the interviewer would be completely clueless as to the gravity of Evan’s remarks. And thus, no push back or further exploration in depth.
He made one remark that was particularly interesting, which was - they think of Twitter as a global information network.
It would have been great to get deeper into that point.
Brands: Build Tasty Mobile Products
March 13th, 2010 at 3:00 pmGreat thoughts Matt!
I would also add, that for brands to do something that engages people it will become more and more about - emotional hacks, How do you design products and marketing that are on brand and how do they create something that emotionally resonates.
Brands: Build Tasty Mobile Products
March 10th, 2010 at 4:44 pmYep Joe, that is the thought I was driving at.
A product development focus can help the brand weed out those crappy experiences that go with building something just to build it and release it for free.

March 10th, 2010 at 4:43 pmThat’s a great slide show. Mark had some interesting ideas on taking app development beyond the freemium model, which is one direction I’m suggesting as well.
Twitter Powered Serendipity
October 20th, 2009 at 12:12 pmI agree in some ways. You may not know some of your Facebook “friends” and what they’re up to as much and it definitely is a better facilitator where trust is a factor.
Twitter on the other hand has the ability to connect you with a total stranger. For me what helps build up some trust on Twitter is if I’m following people in domains (iphone dev, gaming, food, etc..) and we end up connecting in the real-world I feel like I sort of know them.

Thanks for the props on the game! We’re close to launching.

Ditch the Pitch, JIMMY
March 13th, 2009 at 9:02 amThanks Ryan, I agree. I like thinking of “social media marketing” as Communication Arts for a few reasons. With the breadth and depth of messages and information out there it’s safe to say that those receiving marketing messages will not process them in the way you intend. Thus, the architecture, the art of social communications has to place a lot of value on personal edification.
I could go on and on about it. The other factor to heavily be considered is testing and measurement.
